FRISCO — Rookie Khaman Maluach returned to the G League on Saturday night, dominating the paint and helping lead the Valley Suns to a 112-105 victory over the Texas Legends.

The 19-year-old center and Phoenix Suns’ 2025 first-round pick finished with a team-high 24 points and 17 rebounds in 33 minutes. He also added one assist, one steal and one block in an all-around performance that once again showcased his long-term potential.

Time in the G League has allowed Maluach to find his footing with extended minutes as the Phoenix Suns manage a crowded frontcourt. While he has seen limited playing time at the NBA level, his development with the Valley Suns has helped accelerate his transition from an intriguing prospect to a player who could become a viable rotation piece in the near future.

Saturday’s performance also carries significance for his role within the organization, particularly as Phoenix continues to navigate injuries and rotation adjustments. Maluach recently earned greater opportunities at the NBA level, most notably against the Portland Trail Blazers on Feb. 22, when he scored seven points on 3-of-5 shooting and knocked down his first career 3-pointer in 16 minutes.

The increased playing time in the G League — and the signs of that confidence carrying over to Phoenix — suggest the rookie is beginning to settle into his development track. Even when he is not part of the nightly NBA rotation, Maluach has shown an ability to stay ready and translate what he builds in the Valley to meaningful contributions when called upon.

While he may still need time before becoming a permanent fixture in the Suns’ rotation, the organization’s long-term vision for him is starting to take shape.
