Kings Acquire De’Andre Hunter in Three-Team Trade

A significant three-team trade just hits the NBA landscape, involving the Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, and Chicago Bulls, with each franchise addressing a clear roster need through a single, coordinated move.

Cleveland agrees to send De’Andre Hunter to Sacramento. In return, the Cavaliers receive Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis, adding speed, ball-handling, and perimeter defense to their backcourt rotation. Schroder brings experience and control, while Ellis gives Cleveland a young guard who can defend at the point of attack and contribute without needing the ball.

The Kings acquire Hunter, a proven two-way forward who immediately upgrades their wing rotation while also fitting into their longer-term vision. Still young and entering his prime, Hunter gives Sacramento a player they can view as both a present contributor and a potential building block moving forward. His ability to defend bigger scorers, hit open threes, and stay within the flow of the offense fills a long-standing gap on the roster and adds lineup flexibility on both ends of the floor.

Around the league, this move is widely viewed as the opening step rather than the final one for Sacramento. The Kings appear active and aggressive ahead of the trade deadline, and acquiring Hunter now positions them to build off this deal rather than pause after it.

Chicago completes the trade by taking in Dario Saric along with two future second-round picks. The Bulls add frontcourt depth and additional draft capital, maintaining flexibility as they evaluate their next steps.

The trade reflects three different priorities executed at once: Cleveland reshapes its guard depth, Sacramento secures a much-needed wing with both present and future value, and Chicago quietly builds long-term assets. It’s a purposeful deal with immediate ripple effects across all three teams.
