Kings' De'Aaron Fox: 'I want to be here'

De'Aaron Fox is the centerpiece of the Kings' future and on a Zoom call with reporters, the point guard says he hopes to play in Sacramento for a long time.

"It’s all the same," Fox said. "… I see myself being here. I want to be here. Obviously, you know, we want to win. Right now, I think, last year we put ourselves in a pretty good position. This year, we're sort of in the same position to make the playoffs. That's what we all want and continue to take the next step forward."

In his third year in the league, Fox is in the midst of his best NBA season, averaging 20.4 points and 6.8 assists per game. The Kings are currently 28-36 and are one of the 22 teams that will be heading to Orlando with the hope of earning a playoff spot. Fox noted that even when the Kings have struggled, he's appreciated the support he's felt from fans. It's clear that he hopes to be the player who finally brings success to Sacramento.

"My first year, we won 27 games, but every game we played at home was a packed house," Fox said. "There are times we’ve played in Detroit or Atlanta or somewhere and half the arena is empty, so you see the love Sacramento has for the team. I know the fans are frustrated. They want to win. We want to win, too, and if you’re able to win in this city, it’s going to feel a lot better than winning somewhere else."
