Kings Make De'Aaron Fox Injury Announcement Before Game Against Celtics

The Sacramento Kings are set to take on the Boston Celtics on the road Friday night, but they are expected to be without one of their star players.

De’Aaron Fox appeared on the injury report Friday morning with a glute injury, and the Kings are expected to be without him. Fox was seen participating in Kings’ shootaround earlier in the day, but it looks as though the star point guard will be unable to play in Friday’s game.

This will be the third consecutive game that Fox has missed after he missed Sacramento’s games against the Philadelphia 76ers and Memphis Grizzlies earlier in the week. Although the Kings were able to win their prior two matchups without Fox, it is a huge blow to the team that he will not be able to suit up against Boston. The Celtics are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, and it will be a tough test for the Kings, especially with Fox sidelined.

Fox has been great this season as he is currently putting together arguably the best season of his career. So far this season, he is averaging 26.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 48.6% from the field and 32.1% from three.

With Fox out of the lineup, Keon Ellis will likely remain in the starting lineup. Ellis has thrived in his new role and has been a major defensive anchor to a Kings team that desperately needs it.

The Kings will also need their other stars in Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan to step up, as well as Malik Monk, who has been great since Doug Christie took over as head coach.

With Fox out, the Kings have an even tougher matchup against the Celtics as they try to win their sixth consecutive games.
