Kings' Malik Monk Gaining Interest From Surprise East Team: Report
Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

With the NBA offseason now officially underway, one team to keep an eye on this summer is the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento is coming off another disappointing season that saw them finish ninth in the Western Conference standings and once again miss the playoffs after being eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in the Play-In Tournament.

Of course, the Kings suffered many changes during the season as they moved on from head coach Mike Brown in December then traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline.

With their new star trio of Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, Sacramento still struggled to be competitive at times and they may elect to move on from one or multiple of their stars this offseason.

While the Kings could move on from one of their stars, likely being DeRozan, one of their key guards has been the subject of trade rumors over the last few weeks.

That player is Malik Monk and according to Ball Report’s Rob Murrows and Anthony A., the Miami Heat expressed interest in landing him via trade this offseason.

Of course, it has been reported that the Kings are interested in trading for a first-round pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft and by sending Monk to the Heat, they could do just that if Miami is willing to give up the 20th overall selection.

Monk is coming off one of the best seasons of his NBA career as he averaged 17.2 points, 38 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 43.9% from the field and 32.5% from three.

Because of this, the 27-year-old guards’ trade value is as high as it has ever been and it is likely that the Kings will be asking for a 2025 first-round pick in return.

Due to this, the Heat may not be willing to pay that price for Monk, though he would give them another great scorer next to Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro in the lineup.

Either way, it appears that Monk will be available this summer as the Kings try to retool their roster and turn their franchise around.
