The Golden State Warriors host the Sacramento Kings in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series on Thursday night and Chase Center will be making sure that is no " more cowbell."
According to an Associated Press and ESPN report, Kings fans are being warned that cowbells aren't allowed at the Warriors home arena. If fans are caught trying to bring Christopher Walken's favorite noisemaker into the facility, they will be "forced to leave them at the outdoor bag check location," per the report.
With Sacramento having not made the playoffs for 17 years prior to this season, the cowbell ban hasn't been relevant for well over a decade. However, according to the report, the instrument has been "prevalent" at their games ever since former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson called the capital city a "cow town" in the early part of the millennium.
The comment led to fans bringing them to games against the Lakers.
Per the report, there were "some" cowbells at the Golden 1 Center for the Kings' recent victories over the Dubs in Games 1 and 2, but "not nearly as many as during the heyday of the 2002 Western Conference Finals against the Lakers."
Game 3 of the best-of-seven set is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET on Thursday.
