Kings trade Jonas Valanciunas to Nuggets for Dario Saric

The NBA free agency period has started off hot. Deals keep coming through, like the Sacramento Kings trading Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets for Dario Saric.

The Kings acquired Valanciunas from the Washington Wizards back in February, but decided it was time to move on. Saric has seen limited playing time over the last few years of his career. This includes playing in just 16 games for the Nuggets last season.

This trade, in particular, is great for the Nuggets. Denver clearly did not like how their season ended. It often appeared as if three-time MVP Nikola Jokic was playing five-on-one, as he wasn’t getting much help from teammates.

This led to the Nuggets’ first trading away sharpshooter Michael Porter Jr.

This new deal, bringing in Valanciunas, will help give Jokic some help in the paint and on the boards. Valanciunas has a big body, and the idea of him and Jokic on the floor together should strike fear into the hearts of opposing defenses.

As the free agency period continues, don’t be surprised if the Nuggets make a few more moves, as they look to regain their spot as the best team in the NBA.
