Klay Thompson Jokingly Takes Dig At Jordan Poole After Beating Him In A 3-Point Contest: "It Was Nice To Humble Him"
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

While Stephen Curry was his usual accurate self draining threes at will, Thompson said he enjoyed the experience.

Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson put on quite the show as they teamed up in a three-point exhibition contest during the Golden State Warriors’ Tokyo preseason games.

While Curry was his usual self, draining threes at will, Thompson enjoyed the experience, while also taking a dig at teammate Jordan Poole who he scored a win against.

The guard, on a social media post, added that he enjoyed shooting the long-distance shots and that it felt good to “humble Poole.”

“I love shooting the basketball,” Klay said. “Especially on the same team as Steph, I mean I’ve gone against him twice in the three-point shootout, so it was nice to have a combination of the great shooting. It was nice to humble Jordan Poole.”

It was sharpshooter Curry who went first and much to the crowd’s delight struck form pretty quickly. While Thompon said there was a bit of pressure when it was his turn, the nerves gradually eased down when he got into his groove.

Klay Thompson Sat Out Of The Preseason Games Against The Washington Wizards

Thompson was one of the notable absentees from the starting five against the Washington Wizards in Tokyo, but that didn’t mean Golden State fans had a reason to panic.

Head coach Steve Kerr explained the reason behind the absence and that the move was purely a precautionary measure after his return to the game last season following a lengthy injury layoff. Per NBC Sports, Kerr said:

“Klay won’t play in either game here in Japan. Just feel more comfortable giving him a little more of a ramp up,” Kerr said. “He’s just not quite ready to play at this point, just based on where -- we’re so early in camp. We just want to be safe and make sure he gets a good ramp-up before he plays in games.”

Despite his sitting out, the Warriors won both the skirmishes and will now prepare to face the Los Angeles Lakers in their final preseason game. They will meet the side again on opening night after the pre-game ring ceremony at home on October 18. Safe to say, Thompson will surely be suiting up then.
