Four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson is looking forward to playing with future Hall of Famer Chris Paul on the Golden State Warriors.

Thompson told Anthony Slater of The Athletic he thinks it’s going to be a smooth transition playing with Paul, who is one of the greatest point guards in NBA history.

“Any time you get to play with a player who is one of the best of your generation it’s an honor,” Thompson said. “It’s a little weird because we’ve had so many battles in the past with Chris, and he’s led so many teams that nearly knocked us off or did knock us off all the way back in 2014. I think he’s just going to add such a calming presence and leadership component that we need.

“I know Steph and him have a long history together being both from North Carolina. For me, it’s going to be a smooth transition playing with such a passer and playmaker, I’m just excited.”

The Warriors acquired Paul from the Washington Wizards in the Jordan Poole trade. CP3 averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists this past season for the Phoenix Suns while shooting 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc and 83.1% from the free-throw line.

The Suns traded Paul to the Wizards in the Bradley Beal trade and then Washington dealt him to Golden State. Paul was on a plane to New York when Phoenix traded him. He was then playing basketball at his gym in North Carolina when the Dubs acquired him.

The Warriors now have four future Hall of Famers on the roster in Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Paul and Thompson. It’s going to be very fascinating to see how many games Golden State wins next season.

Paul is 38 and no longer a superstar in the NBA. However, he can focus on passing with the Warriors since Curry, Thompson and Andrew Wiggins will be the primary scorers.
