The New York Knicks took home a win in a highly anticipated matchup with the Denver Nuggets, taking down three-time MVP Nikola Jokic's squad 122-112 on Wednesday night.
Jokic failed to match his season totals of 30 points, 13 rebounds and assists per game. Jokic had just 17 points, six rebounds and six assists on Wednesday.
Jokic had high praise for this Knicks' squad and their championship aspirations. Jokic knows a thing or two about championship-level teams, as a champion and Finals MVP himself.
"They've hurt us the last couple years. They're playing really well. They're well-coached…They know what they're doing. They're a really good team…Top 5 candidates for the title"
Knicks' captain Jalen Brunson led the way for the victorious squad, filling up the stat sheet with 30 points, four rebounds, 15 assists, two steals, and a block.
All five Knicks' starters posted double-digit points, and Miles McBride joined the party with 12 points of his own off the bench.
For the Nuggets, Jamal Murray poured in 33 points but was unable to emerge victorious against a Knicks offense that made over half of their shots.
It was the Knicks' fifth-straight victory, bringing them to 32-16 on the season. They sit third in the Eastern Conference, just one game behind the Boston Celtics, who they play next Saturday on national television.
The Knicks have another national TV game before that matchup, as they host the Los Angeles Lakers this upcoming Saturday on ABC.
The Lakers are fifth in the Western Conference with a 26-19 record.
The Knicks have seemingly found their stride as head coach Tom Thibodeau has moved to a nine-man rotation, and with just eight days before the trade deadline, many are monitoring if the Knicks will make a move to bolster the rotation, especially with Mitchell Robinson expected to return next month.
