The New York Knicks scored a big win on Tuesday night despite Josh Hart suffering an injury and leaving the game. The 6-foot-5 small forward exited the contest in the third quarter due to an ankle issue and was unable to return. He finished with four points, seven rebounds, seven assists and one three-pointer in 22 minutes of action.

The Knicks still blew out the Wizards, 132-101. That marked their seventh straight win as New York has suddenly emerged as one of the hottest teams in the entire NBA.

The Knicks are back in action on Wednesday night. They return home to Madison Square Garden for a matchup against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

Hart was diagnosed with a left ankle sprain. He was initially listed as questionable to play against the Nuggets.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown spoke to reporters ahead of the Nuggets game, and he provided an update on Hart’s status. Brown announced that Hart has been ruled out and will not suit up against Denver. This report comes via Knicks reporter Ian Begley of SNY.

The fact that the Knicks are playing on the tail end of a back-to-back set may have been a factor in their decision to give Hart the night off. With Hart out of the picture, more minutes should be available for Landry Shamet and Jordan Clarkson.

Hart’s next chance to play will be on Friday against the Detroit Pistons. That will be a big game for the Knicks, who head into the Nuggets game with a 32-18 record. They are currently No. 2 in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons, though, are No. 1. As of writing, Detroit is 37-12 and leads the Knicks by 5.5 games for the top seed.
