Knicks Dealt Unfortunate Jalen Brunson News After Lakers Game
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks suffered a tough loss on Thursday night as they fell short against the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime, 113-109.

To make matters worse, star point guard Jalen Brunson was forced to exit the game in the extra period after spraining his right ankle. The two-time All-Star was unable to return and was subsequently ruled out for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Things have now taken a turn for the worse after the Knicks received the results of Brunson's tests. The 28-year-old underwent X-rays on Friday, and while they came back clean, Brunson has now been ruled out for an extended period.

"New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson is expected to miss at least two weeks with a right ankle sprain," reported NBA insider Shams Charania.

The Knicks' PR account on X also had the same announcement, noting that Brunson's injury status will be provided in two weeks.

This only means that it's possible that the former Villanova star's ankle injury could extend beyond this period, depending on how he recovers over the next couple of weeks.

The Knicks, who enter Friday's contest against the Clippers with a 40-22 record and the third-best record in the Eastern Conference, will now likely turn to Cameron Payne and Miles McBride to fill the Brunson void.
