Not only have the New York Knicks won seven straight games — as their tankathon schedule continues — but they also recently received positive news on the injury front.
Reserve guard Deuce McBride is nearing a return to action, as his rehab has progressed to scrimmaging.
McBride, 25, has missed nearly two months with a hernia injury. He underwent surgery on Feb. 6, 2026, to repair the hernia — following his most recent appearance for the Knicks (Jan. 27).
McBride has been participating in normal practices as of late, and he even took part in the pregame routine before the Knicks’ home victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. McBride drilled 5 of 6 corner threes at one point, caught on video:

This is just the latest in what’s been a predictable rehab process for the Knicks’ first guard off the bench. New York targeted just before the NBA playoffs as his ultimate return this season, and it appears that goal will be reached.
In 35 games this season, McBride is averaging 12.9 points on 43.4% from the floor and 42.0% from beyond the arc, to go with 2.8 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game.
Trade deadline acquisition Jose Alvarado has assumed McBride’s usual role as the first guard off the bench. The suddenly resurging Jordan Clarkson has also carved out a nice chunk of the rotation, and Tyler Kolek remains a lower-level option as a backcourt reserve.
The 48-25 New York Knicks hit the road for a four-game trip. A Thursday night contest against the Hornets in Charlotte gets it started.
