Newly appointed New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown is already winning over the fans not just with his coaching resume, but with his charisma, humility, and sense of humor.

In a light-hearted Q&A session designed to introduce him to Knicks fans on a more personal level, Brown opened up about life beyond basketball, offering glimpses into his personality that made it clear why he's one of the NBA's most respected figures.

When asked what job he’d have if not for coaching, Brown didn’t skip a beat. “You know what, I'd probably be a UPS driver. Brown Delivery or something crazy like that,” he said with a laugh. “I'd love to be outside in shorts, just kind of being my own boss and not have to think about anything at all.”

It was a moment that showcased Brown’s grounded nature and easygoing charm — not something you’d expect from a man tasked with delivering one of the NBA’s most storied franchises back to relevance.

As the session continued, Brown reflected on the best piece of advice he’s ever received. “To keep working, and if you do, you can reach your dreams,” he said.

That message of perseverance has clearly shaped his own journey from assistant stints with the Spurs and Pacers to head coaching jobs with the Cavaliers, Lakers, Kings, and now the Knicks.

In a fun twist, Brown was also asked who would play him in a movie. His answer? “Denzel Washington, come on baby.”

It was a crowd-pleasing moment that drew laughter and applause. Brown’s self-awareness, mixed with a healthy dose of swagger, made it easy to see why players gravitate toward him.

When asked if he had any nicknames, Brown revealed one that might surprise even longtime fans. “My grandson calls me Pawpaw. I thought I was too cool to have a grandson. So at first I told his parents that he was going to have to call me Big Mike. But I settled on Pawpaw.”

That revelation painted a more personal, softer side to the 54-year-old coach, who’s often seen barking instructions courtside with fire and intensity.

Brown didn’t shy away from sharing his lighter preferences either. The last book he read? Curious George. His favorite sport to watch aside from basketball? UFC which he called “the ultimate sport.”

And when it comes to TV, he’s into fantasy drama, having recently finished House of the Dragon.

As for music, Brown declared himself a big fan of country, giving a shoutout to Kane Brown as one of his favorite artists.

Closing out the session, Brown addressed Knicks fans directly: “Hey, enjoy the ride. I'm looking forward to it. You guys are passionate and very knowledgeable. I can't wait to get this thing started.”
