The NBA offseason is right around the corner and trade rumors are heating up, including those surrounding the New York Knicks.
Of course, the Knicks made it to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 before falling in six games to the Indiana Pacers, resulting in them firing head coach Tom Thibodeau.
New York now have a major decision to make regarding who will be the next head coach of their franchise but they also have some key decisions to make regarding their roster.
One player who has been placed in trade rumors is Karl-Anthony Towns, especially after his struggles on the defensive end in the playoffs.
Despite this, the Knicks will likely elect to keep Towns on their roster heading into next season but they reportedly have a “dream pairing” in mind involving a star from the Memphis Grizzlies.
According to ClutchPoints’ Kris Pursiainen, the Knicks view Towns and Jaren Jackson Jr. as a “dream pairing” that they could pursue this offseason.
“Sources familiar with the situation tell ClutchPoints that at least one key member of the Knicks' front office has long been interested in Jackson Jr. as a trade target,” Pursiainen wrote. “The Knicks' acquisition of Karl-Anthony Towns last offseason didn't nullify this interest, either. League sources say that a Jackson Jr. and Towns frontcourt would be a ‘dream' pairing for New York in their starting lineup.”

Of course, the Grizzlies could end up beginning a rebuild this offseason after they elected to send Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic on Sunday, which means both Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant could be on the move.
Jackson Jr. is set to be a free agent after next season and there is no doubt that he would be a massive upgrade for the Knicks if they were to either trade for him this summer or wait until free agency next summer.
Either way, pairing Jackson Jr. next to Towns would be a major defensive boost to the Knicks’ frontcourt which could propel them to a championship with Jalen Brunson leading the way.
