Knicks sweep past Sixers, carrying momentum into East finals

This one was decided early. Maybe even before tipoff.

The Knicks handled the 76ers in Game 4, pulling away quickly and cruising to a 144-114 win to complete the sweep and advance to the Eastern Conference finals for the second straight year.

New York’s three-point shooting told the story. The Knicks knocked down 25 from deep, tying an NBA playoff record, and effectively removed any drama by halftime. They opened 11-of-13 from beyond the arc in the first quarter and never looked back, building a lead that stretched past 20 before the game settled in.

It wasn’t just one guy, either.

Miles McBride stepped into the starting lineup again with OG Anunoby sidelined and delivered 25 points, hitting seven threes. Jalen Brunson finished with 22 points and six assists, continuing to set the tone, while Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart filled in across the board.

Philadelphia never found footing. The Knicks led by 24 at halftime and pushed it to nearly 40 by the third, turning the final stretch into little more than formality.

Now comes the real question.

The Knicks are playing well, no doubt. Seven straight postseason wins, most by double digits, and an offense that has looked sharp and confident. But the next round is a different animal, whether it’s the Cavaliers or Pistons waiting.

Regardless, New York did exactly what it needed to do. Took care of business. Did it convincingly. And moves on with momentum.

The measuring stick is coming next.
