It has been a solid season thus far for the New York Knicks as they currently sit third in the Eastern Conference standings with a 35-20 record heading into the NBA All-Star break.
Of course, the Knicks had high expectations entering the season with the East being wide open due to injuries, along with their core led by Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns , Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby.
So far, New York has lived up to expectations as they look like a serious threat in the East this season, though they have struggled at times.
Despite this, the Knicks have been a top team in the conference this season as they try to make a run at a championship and they reportedly added to their core on Thursday.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Knicks plan to sign Jeremy Sochan for the remainder of the season once he clears waivers after he was released by the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.

Charania also mentioned in his report that Sochan drew interest from 10 different suitors but he landed on the Knicks as his new team following his departure from San Antonio.
Of course, Sochan was the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Spurs but after falling out of their rotation this season and with them unable to find a trade for him ahead of the deadline, San Antonio elected to release the young forward on Wednesday.
Now Sochan is expected to sign with the Knicks, who were reportedly interested in him ahead of the trade deadline, and he will provide them with a young, athletic wing off the bench.
Over his career, the 22-year-old forward is averaging 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 46.8% from the field and 28.7% from three.
For Sochan, he will now head to New York where he will likely play a key role for them off the bench, especially on the defensive end, while also providing them with a solid scoring option.
New York’s next game comes on February 19 at home against the Detroit Pistons where Sochan could be in line to make his team debut once he is officially signed by the Knicks.
