The Knicks are closing in on training camp and weighing a handful of veteran names to finalize their roster.
Among them: Matt Ryan, who spent time in New York last season and remains one of the better floor-spacing shooters still available, per Ian Begley of SNY.
Big man Alex Len also impressed in a recent workout, while Trey Jemison III continues to be on the radar as frontcourt depth, Begley reported.
Meanwhile, Dennis Smith Jr. drew positive reviews from informal scrimmages this week, reminding the Knicks of his ability to defend and push pace.
New York already has non-guaranteed deals in place with Malcolm Brogdon, Landry Shamet and Garrison Mathews, but apron restrictions mean the team can only keep one of those veterans into the regular season without making a trade to shed salary.
Adding Ryan, Len or Jemison to the mix only makes camp that much more competitive.
