Kevin Garnett played the game of basketball with unmatched energy and the hunger to win each and every game. He was always vocal whether through his game during his playing days or now his comments after getting retired. The most recent example of this was when he chose Michael Jordan as the GOAT over LeBron James.

Despite being a great player during his Minnesota Timberwolves days, he never had a good team around him that could help him in the postseason. So the aftermath of those wasted years in Minnesota? Kevin Garnett left the team and became a member of the Boston Celtics.

While wearing the Celts uniform, KG won the sole ring of his career. But he believes he could have won two or three more rings if he had joined the Celtics a few seasons earlier.

Well, that's one side of the story. But the other one is Garnett also revealed that he wanted to join Kobe Bryant and the Lakers before the deal with the Celtics was finalized.

Just imagine the duo of Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett in the prime of their careers? It would have been too much for the opponents to handle. And that's probably why Kobe was pissed when he faced off Garnett and the Celtics.

In an interview with GQ, Garnett revealed how the Mamba reacted to KG becoming a Celtic.

“‘YO, MAN, YOU WAS TRYING TO GET IN CONTACT WITH ME?’ 'Man, get the f*** outta here.' 'NAH, NAH, I'M SERIOUS, MAN. I GOT THIS S*** LATE, MAN. DAMN MAN.’ ‘It's all good.’ 'NAH, IT AIN'T GOOD, YOU IN THAT WRONG COLOR, MAN. WHAT THE F***, MAN. HOW YOU GONNA GO TO BOSTON OF ALL PLACES.’ ‘Man, nah, you gotta chill.’”

"It was all good. I always loved playing against [Kobe]. But yeah, it probably would have been a different level playing with him.”

Well, this one decision made by Garnett gave birth to the Boston Celtics' super team. For a couple of years, it was almost impossible to get past them in the postseason.

Despite being such a heavyweight team, KG firmly believes his trade to Boston was unlike Kevin Durant's or LeBron James' moves to make super teams.

Whether or not that is true, we leave it up to you to decide. After all, if KG had not joined the Celtics, LeBron might not have joined the Miami Heat and the entire history of the NBA could have been different.
