It has been a monumental year for Kobe Bryant’s legacy as we continue to celebrate his storied career and impact on basketball all throughout 2024, or “Mamba Year.” We’ve seen some of his most classic signature sneakers release over the last few months and with the summer right around the corner, the releases will begin to ramp-up furiously. Next up, we’re seeing one of Kobe Bryant’s first signature Adidas sneakers return shortly after an initial release in a different colorway. Check out our Sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content!

The Adidas Crazy 98 was released in 1998 originally as the KB 2, a follow-up to Kobe Bryant’s wildly successful Adidas KB8. The shoe was later dubbed the “Crazy 98” to coincide with the popular “Crazy 8” that still re-releases on occasion. A dark colorway of the Adidas Crazy 98 was released a few months back and saw a restock just a few weeks ago. Later known as the Lakers “Away” edition, this upcoming release will flip colors and give a Lakers “Home” edition.

Adidas Crazy 98 “Lakers Home”

The Adidas Kobe Bryant line is still one of their most unique ventures in basketball sneakers in terms of their design, wearability, and of course endorsement from the Mamba himself. The chunky, wavy midsole screams 1990’s NBA and the shoes provide extra traction and bounce as a result. They feature a mix of leather and mesh along the uppers, highlighted by the subtle Adidas’ three stripes in deep purple. We see added hits of purple along the eyelets while the trim of the shoe is done in black.

The shoes feature a grey Adidas logo up by the heel, exact to their black “Away” counterpart. The shoes are subtle with their branding and colorways, focusing more on the structure and stunning visual of the shoe when worn on the court. Kobe Bryant laced these up for the 1998-99 season where he averaged 15.1 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 2.5 APG. Now, Adidas will have released both the “Home” and “Away” versions of these sneakers, giving fans a chance to collect both and own a small piece of Kobe Bryant history.

The Adidas Crazy 98 “Lakers Home” official colorway reads Core White/Collegiate Purple-Crystal White. The shoes will be dropping sometime in June 2024 with a hard-date yet to be set. The shoes will retail for $150 and will be made available at Adidas and all Adidas retailers. The “Crazy 8s” have seen quick sell-outs in terms of their releases, so expect these to be another hyped upcoming pair for the summer.

What do you think of these? Will you be adding these to your Kobe Bryant collection?
