Warriors big man Kristaps Porzingis says he has enjoyed his time in Golden State, but isn’t ready to commit to his future with the team, according to Nick Friedell of The Athletic.
Porzingis, who was acquired at the trade deadline, is in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
“It’s hard to say,” Porzingis said. “Of course, it would be nice for me to go ahead and say, ‘Yes, I want to continue here.’ But the reality is I didn’t have a good year at all. I barely showed what I’m capable of. And so I have to see what’s out there.”
The 30-year-old has appeared in 12 games with Golden State, averaging 17.5 points while working his way back into form after injuries limited him earlier in the season.
“For me, I just wanted first to get to decent shape,” Porzingis said. “Take care of that… not to put too much pressure on myself.”
Porzingis said he has enjoyed the organization and is intrigued by the chance to play alongside Stephen Curry, who is nearing a return from injury.
“Honestly, the team is great here… I haven’t gotten a chance to play with Steph yet,” he said.
Still, Porzingis indicated that his decision this offseason will depend on multiple factors, including health and fit.
“I believe I’m in incredible hands here,” he said. “That means something.”
