Kyrie Irving Doesn't Believe The Brooklyn Nets Will Struggle Without Kevin Durant
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Kyrie Irving issues a strong message for the Brooklyn Nets amidst Kevin Durant's injury.

The competition in the Eastern Conference this season has been at an all-time high. There are several teams that have a genuine chance at representing the conference in the NBA Finals this season, and the Brooklyn Nets are certainly among those teams.

The credit for the Brooklyn Nets' success this season goes to the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. They have managed to help the Nets reach the second seed in the East. But even between KD and Kyrie, the latter is certainly the heart and soul of the team.

Keeping that in mind, Kevin Durant's injury against the Miami Heat has certainly had a huge impact on the team. According to rumors, Durant is set to miss around a month of action following his injury.

Kyrie Irving Shows Trust In The Brooklyn Nets

During Durant's absence, Kyrie Irving has naturally become the leader of the team. Although Kai has been doing everything in his power to keep the team competitive until KD returns, the Nets are now on a 2-game losing streak in the absence of the former NBA MVP.

Despite these poor results, Irving is yet to show any signs of being nervous. If anything, he is still confident that the Nets to play well without Durant.

"Just gotta shake this one now and get ready for our road trip coming and take it one possession at a time. One minute at a time. And just Invite the growth that can happen here. Guys can definitely fill in some shoes, play some different roles, and it gives us a chance to really grow as individuals. Some guys have been in this position, some guys have not. It was all glory, glory last week when we were winning game after game and now we’re answering questions about potentially struggling."

He added, "I don't think we are going to struggle without Kevin now. That's not my belief. I know guys in the locker room don't believe that, and this isn't last year at all. So the comparisons just gotta stop. I'll leave it up to you guys to do that, but for us, we don't have any comparisons to last year."

It must be relieving for the fanbase of the team to know the players have the correct mindset about dealing with Kevin Durant's absence. At the end of the day, the Nets certainly have the talent to keep themselves competitive until their superstar returns to the roster and does not repeat the same mistake they made last season.
