Kyrie Irving Reportedly Wants To Get Vaccinated But Only With A Plant-Based Version Of The Vaxx

The Kyrie Irving saga continues in Brooklyn, and we get to know more details about his decision to not get the COVID-19 vaccine. Last week, it was reported that Kyrie wouldn't play again unless he was traded away, but that could change if the player sees some improvement in a variant of the shot. 

Irving, an NBA champion in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has made it clear he won't lose money over this situation but never addressed how he would get vaccinated. Well, it seems like he's not an anti-vaxxer, and is not trying to protest for the people who lost their jobs over vaccine mandates. 

According to Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson of Bally Sports, Ky is not trusting the current vaccines out there given his injury issues in the past. 

“Those closest to him also have shared that Irving knows anything he says will be magnified and scrutinized and he doesn’t want to be viewed as an anti-vaxxer. He’s not taking this stance to be a voice for the voiceless. He’s just not trusting of the available vaccines, according to sources. Irving also does not want to get vaccinated because of bad experiences with his health due to basketball injuries over the years,” Robinson writes.

Moreover, Robinson adds that given his plant-based diet, Irving could take the same approach with the vaccine. 

"Irving has adopted a 100-percent plant-based diet, so he could wait until a plant-based version of the vaccine has been completed and approved. One such vaccine is undergoing clinical trials with more than 30,000 people taking part, according to a report in August."

This is an interesting twist for this story. Just when people were convinced Kyrie was on his way out of the Nets, this new report gives a renewed perspective on what Irving plans to do.

He landed in Brooklyn trying to take the team to the NBA title, yet he's been unable to do so after two seasons with the team. Meanwhile, his teammates are doing a decent job, ranking 1st in the Eastern Conference standings. However, many believe Irving is crucial for the Nets' title hopes, and the Nets are working to solve this problem. 

Time will tell how this unfolds, but it seems like Kyrie's chances to play this season are still alive.
