Kyrie Irving’s third eye is open when it comes to the NBA MVP race as well.

The Brooklyn Nets star revealed in a tweet this week the player he believes should win MVP this year: Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker.

Booker is generally not considered to be in the discussion for MVP. For now, it appears to be a three-man race with Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Denver’s Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo vying for position. Boston’s Jayson Tatum has also been making a late push for consideration.

Granted, Booker is the leading scorer for the 60-14 Phoenix Suns, the best team in the NBA this season by a significant margin. While Booker’s comparatively modest numbers (26.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists a game) are not as impressive as those of the aforementioned front-runners, Irving believes Booker makes a strong case. Booker himself also recently explained why he thinks he should be considered.
