Kyrie Irving’s finishing skills is NOT the most impressive take away from playoffs, says Shannon Sharpe

Veteran Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks adopted a new position in a pivotal Game 2 victory versus the Oklahoma City Thunder . Despite only scoring 9 points in the end, he contributed 11 assists to his team’s 119-110 victory.

Irving didn’t score as much as usual, but his overall effect was crucial to the Mavericks’ victory. Notable, ex-NFL player, Shannon Sharpe believes the same, claiming his defensive output has taken an upgrade in the game.

Irving has been very vocal regarding his defensive output in the game. He also stressed that it is important for his side to win rather than him focusing on making baskets. Irving usually took the defense that the Thunder used to his team’s advantage, passing the ball to big men in the paint and creating open shots.

Also, Luka Doncic highlighted Irving’s versatility, especially his postseason defensive performances after game 2 against the OKC Thunder.

It will surely be unusual for Irving to get praised regarding his defensive side of the game, but he will take it nevertheless. Now, it remains to be seen how Irving and co perform in the remainder of the NBA playoff series against the OKC Thunder.

Luka Doncic heaps huge praise on Kyrie Irving’s recent performance against the Thunder

The Dallas Mavericks star duo, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have been top-notch for their side in game 3 of the NBA playoffs against the OKC Thunder. Doncic particularly had an off night according to his standards. Despite pulling down 15 rebounds as the Mavs had the upper hand in the glass, he finished with 22 points on 7 of 17 shooting.

However, he was full of praise for his teammate Irving’s stellar performance which did not go unnoticed.

He's amazing, He's trying to facilitate for everybody too, so he's doing it all on both ends on the floor. We appreciate having him. After the game, Luka Doncic said

Irving finished with 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field in Game 3. In addition, the 32-year-old finished with seven rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block. Irving will be focused on getting his side in the next round of the NBA playoffs.
