Kyshawn George is emerging as one of the cornerstones of the Washington Wizards. The 24th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, George has been one of the more impressive rookies for the Wizards. He has exceeded the expectations set for him on draft night, a pleasant surprise for the front office and the fan base.
Before suffering an ankle injury against the Toronto Raptors, George was able to set a personal record against the New York Knicks. In the loss to the Knicks, the Wizards forward recorded his first career double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 boards.
George, a Miami product, came to the Wizards as a potential sharpshooter with the build to be a capable defender. While he struggled initially on the defensive end, George has shown willingness and the ability to be a physical wing defender. At his position, that defense is extremely valuable.
That being said, shooting is still his biggest asset. While he struggled shooting from deep against the Knicks (1-of-4 from three-point range), he's shooting at a 39.5% clip through the last two months. His 35.4% clip in March is his most likely baseline for the next few years.
As mentioned above, George suffered an ankle injury during the Wizards' most recent game against the Toronto Raptors. He played only two minutes, tallying three rebounds and an assist before exiting the game for good.
