The Los Angeles Clippers have been a huge disappointment so far this season.
The Los Angeles Clippers are currently 3-6 and they don’t look like a team that will be able to compete in a loaded Western Conference.
The Clippers made what appeared to be nice moves on paper in the offseason but so far the team hasn’t gelled.
Los Angeles trading away Norman Powell has proven to be a big mistake on their part and they haven’t had the type of production they were hoping to get from key players.
Kawhi Leonard has been hit with the injury bug again.
Leonard will miss the next few games due to a sprained ankle, head coach Tyronn Lue said. Leonard sat out his third straight game Saturday night against the Phoenix Suns.
To make matters even more worrisome, Lue did not provide a specific timeline for Leonard’s return.
Leonard appeared in the first three games of the season and got off to a decent start, averaging 24.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
Injuries have been a common theme for Leonard since he joined the Clippers in 2019. He missed the entire 2021-22 season due to a serious right knee injury and missed the first 34 games of last season with the same knee issue.
The Clippers weren’t expecting a whole ton from Chris Paul when they signed him, but they had to be expecting a lot more than what he’s given them.
Paul hasn’t been any kind of x-factor for the Clippers, averaging just 2.3 points in 12.9 minutes per game.
Paul’s age is beginning to show as he is shooting a career-low 24.0 percent from the field and 26.3 percent from three.
The 40-year-old has shown that he’s closer to retirement than helping a team trying to contend.
Bradley Beal has by far been the most disappointing Clippers player to start the season.
The Clippers had high hopes for Beal when they brought him in after the Phoenix Suns bought him out.
James Harden played a key role in recruiting Beal to the Clippers as the franchise thought he would serve as a solid replacement for Powell.
That couldn’t be the furthest thing from the truth as Beal has been awful for the Clippers.
Beal has averaged an abysmal 8.2 points in 20.2 minutes per game. This includes Beal putting up a measly 5 points on 2-for-14 shooting against his former team the Suns.
