Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis was visibly favoring his right leg during Wednesday's 107-106 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the Lakers have ruled Davis out for Thursday's game at the Detroit Pistons due to a bruised right quad.
"I had a little brush burn on my knee from the court and it was like bothering me on my tights, just rubbing against it, so I just tried to pull them tights up off of it," the 27-year-old explained Wednesday night. "But I feel physically fine. I feel fine and we have a long season to go."
The Lakers resting Davis out of caution for the second part of a back-to-back shouldn't cause too much concern barring an additional setback. Davis began Thursday leading the team among eligible players with 8.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.9 blocks, and a player efficiency rating of 25.07. He is second behind only LeBron James in scoring with 21.9 points per game.
The Lakers will remain on the road through early next week. They play at the Boston Celtics on Saturday night.
