Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers made it five wins in a row on Tuesday night as they took down their cross-town rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers, 135-118. Doncic led the way for the Lakers with 43 points on 14-of-28 shooting, nine rebounds, 13 assists, a steal, a block and seven triples in another incredible performance.
Doncic, however, was involved in an ugly incident at the end of the NBA Cup matchup. The five-time All-Star got into it with Clippers guard Kris Dunn in a confrontation that ultimately led to multiple technical fouls and an ejection. Now, both the Lakers and the Clippers will need to await the NBA’s decision on punishments for the fracas.
While it was Doncic who stole the show in Tuesday’s rivalry showdown, LeBron James (25 points, six assists) and Austin Reaves (31 points, nine rebounds) were also pivotal as the Lakers cruised to victory against the Clippers.
Things got heated towards the end of the fourth quarter, though. Dunn shoved the ball into Doncic’s chest during a confrontation between the two guards. Lakers big man Jaxson Hayes did not appreciate Dunn’s actions and decided to shove the Clippers veteran from behind. Dunn pushed Hayes back. Players on both teams joined in the action, prompting the referees to step in to de-escalate the situation.

After reviewing the incident, the officials called two technical fouls on Dunn, resulting in an automatic ejection. Hayes was also called for a technical foul.
According to the NBA rulebook , each technical foul carries an automatic fine of at least $2,000. An ejection warrants another fine of at least $2,000. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also has the authority to issue a maximum fine of $50,000 and/or suspension for fighting.
For context, Dunn, a 10-year vet, has accumulated 28 fines totaling $ 105,678 throughout his career. In 2024, the 6-foot-3 guard was suspended for two games for initiating an altercation and throwing a punch during a game between the Utah Jazz and the Houston Rockets. He was also fined $35,678 for the incident.
The Lakers improved to 13-4 after Tuesday’s win, while the Clippers fell to 5-13.
