Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso was arrested and released Tuesday for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Texas A&M police (h/t ESPN).
Caruso tried to board a flight at around 2 p.m. CT at Easterwood Airport in College Station, Texas, which is located on Texas A&M property. Security searched his bags and found an herb grinder that contained marijuana.
The 27-year-old was arrested for possession of fewer than two ounces of marijuana and was released after posting bond.
Caruso grew up in Texas and played college basketball for Texas A&M before signing with the Lakers. The 2020 NBA champion is a free agent this offseason.
Caruso averaged 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game during the 2020-21 campaign while shooting 43.6% from the field and 40.1% from deep. It's unclear if the Lakers have plans to bring him back next season.
