Los Angeles Lakers power forward Jarred Vanderbilt, who earned his team's starting gig last night at the four spot when All-Star LeBron James was ruled out, departed LA's eventual 114-105 road upset win over the Boston Celtics late in the first half with what looked like a troubling foot injury. He would not return in the second half.
Per Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet, X-ray imaging postgame was negative, meaning that at least the foot didn't suffer a break.
Trudell notes that the Lakers will be able to provide further details for the club's next game, a matchup against the New York Knicks, currently riding high on a nine-game winning streak.

Tomorrow is a travel day, so we’ll await a further update on Saturday in New York.
Before he departed the Boston game, the 6'8" Kentucky product had already scored 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting from the floor and 2-of-2 shooting from the foul line. LA's best perimeter also wrapped up with seven rebounds, three steals and two dimes. Power forward Rui Hachimura was brought in to start the third quarter with Vanderbilt hurt.
Considering how depleted the Lakers' frontcourt already is, missing Vanderbilt for any extended time could prove detrimental as Los Angeles looks to improve its record ahead of the February 8th NBA trade deadline.
