Lakers Interested in Acquiring Suns' $15 Million Center in Offseason Trade: Report

The Phoenix Suns have busy so far this offseason as they continue to retool their roster around Devin Booker after missing the playoffs last season.

Of course, the Suns started their offseason by trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets and they continued to make moves during the 2025 NBA Draft.

During the draft, the Suns selected Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea and also made a trade with the Charlotte Hornets that landed them Mark Williams.

With these moves, the Suns have been able to upgrade their roster around Booker as they try to bounce back after a disappointing last couple of seasons and they are expected to make more moves this summer.

One Suns’ player who could be on the move this summer is Nick Richards, especially after Phoenix added both Maluach and Williams, and one Western Conference contender is reportedly interested in acquiring him.

According to ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel, the Los Angeles Lakers have held trade talks with the Suns for Richards.

Siegel also mentioned that Los Angeles has also expressed interest in Yves Missi of the New Orleans Pelicans and Robert Williams III of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Of course, the Lakers are in desperate need of a new starting center to pair alongside LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves and with many centers already off the market, they may be forced to make a trade for one.

For Richards, he would be a solid option for the Lakers as he is a solid inside scorer and great rebounder.

Last season, the 27-year-old averaged 9.5 points and 8.6 points per game while shooting 60.5% from the field.

With their frontcourt additions this offseason, the Suns may be willing to move on from Richards at the right price, and with the Lakers in desperate need of a center, the two sides could end up working out a deal in the near future.
