Lakers’ LeBron James Sounds Off On Being Only Player In NBA History With 39K Points
Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James is the only player in NBA history with 39,000 career points.

LeBron, who became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer last season, believes he’s the best player in NBA history.

LeBron is first all-time in points, fourth in assists, eighth in steals, fifth in triple-doubles, third in player efficiency rating and sixth in points per game. The King has won four titles, four Finals MVPs and four regular-season MVPs.

“I got congratulated by my teammates and coaches,” LeBron said. “I haven’t had an opportunity to really wrap my head around what that means. “There’s been so many great players that came across this league since the beginning of time and so many great scorers. To be able to accomplish something that’s the first of anything, I think that’s always pretty cool. It’s a wild moment, that’s for sure.”

LeBron is the only player in NBA history with at least 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists. He’s also the only player to rank top five all-time in both assists and points.

LeBron is averaging 25.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 6.6 assists for the Lakers this season while shooting 58.7% from the field, 41.0% from beyond the arc and 69.9% from the free-throw line. He’s the oldest player in the NBA but still one of the top players.

Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and LeBron are universally recognized as the two best players in NBA history. LeBron, who grew up idolizing Jordan, has said on multiple occasions that he thinks he’s the greatest player of all time.
