Lakers Make Anthony Davis Announcement Before Wizards Game

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has appeared in 37 of his team's 40 games this season. Known for his injury issues, Davis has been much more durable the last two seasons. Playing 76 of 82 games last season, Davis has missed just three games so far this year.

Hosting the Washington Wizards at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night, the Lakers initially listed Davis as questionable on their injury report due to right calf soreness. This is a different injury listing than the left plantar fasciitis that kept Davis out on Jan. 17 against the Brooklyn Nets.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Lakers announced an update on their star forward.

Per the team, Davis has been upgraded from questionable to probable, which means he is expected to play.

"Lakers announce Anthony Davis has been upgraded to probable for tonight against the Wizards," Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation wrote on X.

It is worth noting that Davis was also listed as probable for that Jan. 17 contest against Brooklyn before being downgraded to out, but an upgrade to probable is usually an indication of a player expecting to suit up.

Davis struggled in his team's loss to the LA Clippers on Sunday, scoring just 16 points on 5/14 shooting. Putting together another strong overall season, Davis is averaging 25.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 blocks per game.

A nine-time NBA All-Star, Davis ranked fifth in voting (1,906,962 votes) among Western Conference front court players on the league's third fan voting returns.
