The most talked about second round pick in NBA history has missed several game over the past two weeks as he deals with an injury.

Los Angeles Lakers second-round pick Bronny James hasn't stepped onto the court since November 17. While he's been out of the lineup for a while, though, it seems like he's progressing from an injury that's cost him valuable playing time during his rookie season.

On Saturday afternoon the Lakers announced an update on the son of future Hall of Famer LeBron James.

"Bronny James’ left heel contusion was examined by team doctors Friday, per the Lakers. It was determined to be healing so Bronny will begin his ramp-up process and be re-evaluated in a week," ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported.

In six games during his rookie season, Bronny has been anything but impressive. The no. 55 overall pick is averaging just 0.7 points per game, 0.3 assists, 0.2 rebounds, and 0.2 steals while shooting 16.7 percent from the field while averagin under three minutes per game.

He's fared slightly better in the G-League, averaging 5.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game in just over 28 minutes played.

Ahead of his stint in the G League, Bronny made it clear he was just excited to get some playing experience. "I've seen all the buzz from me going to the G," James said. "It's just an amazing experience for me to go out and play my game and get some minutes under me. I'm just excited for it."

Joey Buss, South Bay's president and CEO, revealed the plan for Bronny this season.

"That's going to be fluid," Buss told ESPN. "We're going to do what's best for his development. There's going to be a lot of things that we do for all the assignment players, and decisions are made based off where they are, based off the injury status, based off how many bodies they need for practice. There's a lot of variables. So nothing unique for Bronny. He's just kind of in that system."
