Bronny James has continued to navigate a developmental second NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers, balancing limited NBA minutes with consistent opportunities in the G League.
After appearing in 27 games as a rookie, where he averaged 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists, Bronny has taken incremental steps forward in 2025-26. Through 34 NBA appearances this season, he is averaging 2.1 points, 0.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in a limited bench role, as the Lakers continue to bring him along gradually.
His most recent outing came in Friday’s win over the Brooklyn Nets, where he once again found himself part of a historic moment alongside his father, LeBron James.
Bronny scored three points in four minutes, knocking down a three-pointer off a LeBron assist, marking the first father-son assist in NBA history.
While his NBA role has remained modest, James has seen more consistent production in the G League with the South Bay Lakers. The 2024 55th overall pick is averaging 14.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
As the Lakers prepare to face the Washington Wizards on Monday, the team announced via its communication page on X that it has reassigned James to the South Bay Lakers. The update comes after head coach JJ Redick praised James for his progress as a player after Friday’s game.
JJ Redick on Bronny James minutes: "We had to put Bronny in even though he wasn't scheduled to be in the second quarter...I'm really happy with where he's at and where he's going as a player." #Lakeshow

South Bay returns to action on Spectrum SportsNet, where they will host the Sioux Falls Skyforce 8 p.m. ET Saturday at UCLA Health Training Center, offering James another opportunity to see more minutes on the court.
Before being recalled for the Nets game, James posted nine points on 4-of-7 shooting, along with five assists, three rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes in South Bay’s 137-114 win over Sioux Falls on Thursday.
