Lakers Make Dalton Knecht Decision Before Wizards Game

Dalton Knecht’s role with the Los Angeles Lakers has decreased significantly now that he’s in his second season with the team. The 6-foot-6 small forward has played 48 games this season, averaging 4.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per contest. This is a stark difference from his averages of 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 triples in 19.2 minutes as a rookie.

L.A. recently sent Knecht to the NBA G League to get some action with the South Bay Lakers. He suited up in Saturday’s game against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Knecht got the start and logged 33 minutes in South Bay’s 140-132 win. The 24-year-old finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Knecht received some good news from the Lakers after helping South Bay to victory. This came in the form of Knecht's recall to the NBA ahead of Monday’s game between the Lakers and the Washington Wizards.

It was reported on Saturday night that the Lakers have recalled Knecht, along with Bronny James and Kobe Bufkin.

This development, however, does not guarantee that Knecht will see action for head coach JJ Redick in Monday’s game against Washington. He has been a healthy DNP (Did Not Play) over the past nine games for the Lakers. The last time Knecht played was on March 10, when he logged two minutes against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Lakers are 48-26 heading into Monday’s matchup. They remain third in the Western Conference with a 1.5-game advantage over the fourth-seeded Denver Nuggets.
