Lakers Preparing to Meet With Celtics NBA Champion

With the Boston Celtics now under the NBA's second tax apron, their next priority is keeping their free agent big men Al Horford and Luke Kornet. It could be tricky for them to keep either of them, let alone both, as they will likely have markets.

That could include the possibility of either joining the Los Angeles Lakers, who need a center. A fair number of Celtics players have migrated to the Lakers before and vice versa, like Rajon Rondo, Rick Fox, and Dennis Schroder. Not many have gone straight from Boston to Los Angeles, though.

One of the Lakers' biggest issues in the postseason was their frontcourt because they failed to replace Anthony Davis when they traded him for Luka Doncic. As it turns out, they have interest in one of the Celtics' bigs.

ESPN's Shams Charania revealed on " The Pat McAfee Show" that the Lakers hope to meet with Horford during free agency. At the same time, he's one of the four centers who have caught their eye this summer.

"Deandre Ayton immediately moves to the forefront, but then you have Brook Lopez, Clint Capela, Al Horford," Charania said. "...I would expect the Lakers to look into all those players once free agency starts tonight."

Charania added, "The Lakers will be shoring up meetings, to my understanding, with other available free agent centers tonight, and into the next couple of days."

Even at 39 years old, Horford is coming off a season where he averaged nine points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 42.3% from the field and 36.3% from three.
