
Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers have been on a hot streak, securing their fifth straight victory against the Denver Nuggets in a 127-125 overtime win on Saturday. Luka was a key contributor against the Nuggets, making the game-winning shot and producing his seventh triple-double on the season with 30 points, 11 assists and 13 rebounds. Los Angeles has won eight of their last nine games and will take their winning streak to Houston for a matchup against the Rockets on Monday night.
The former Dallas Mavericks guard is putting up massive numbers this season, producing in his typical elite fashion. He is leading the NBA in scoring at 32.8 points per game on 47% from the field and 36.5% from three, third in the league in assists at 8.5 per game, and is 22nd in the NBA in rebounds per game at 8.0.
Luka has been even hotter as of late, averaging 37.3 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game, and 11 assists per game in last week's matchups alone. The star forward posted triple-doubles against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday and again in a win over the Nuggets on Saturday, with a 51-point performance against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday sandwiched between.
For his performance from March 9-15, the NBA has named Doncic the Western Conference Player of the Week. This is Luka's third Player of the Week honor this season, having been honored previously in Week 6 and Week 14.
Luka joins Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, who was named the Week 21 Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Averaging 41.3 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game and 2.3 steals per game while leading the Heat to a 2-1 record, Bam was lauded for his 83-point performance against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, passing the 81 Kobe Bryant posted against the Toronto Raptors back in 2006.
