Lakers Remain Interested in Trading for Pistons’ Bojan Bogdanovic

Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers remain interested in attempting to trade for Bogdanovic — something they reportedly were interested in before Bogdanovic was traded from the Jazz to Pistons this past offseason.

According to NBA rules, the Pistons could trade Bogdanovic immediately. Usually, you have to wait until mid-December after someone signs an extension.

“Shortly before the season began, Bogandovic signed a two-year, $39 million extension with the Pistons,” RealGM explained. “The second season of that extension is only partially guaranteed for $2 million, effectively make this a one-year, $22 million extension. Because Bogdanovic got only a slight raise, and extended for only two years, he remains immediately trade-eligible.”

Of course, the Lakers seem to be interested in everyone these days, and understandably so. This current roster seems headed to nowhere.

But there’s a big difference between “interest” and actually being to pull off a trade, and while the Lakers have no issues with the first, the latter could be a problem. They just don’t have the pieces.

Bogdanovic, 33, is exactly the type of perimeter shooter and scorer the Lakers could use. He is averaging 20.3 points on 51 percent shooting (through 14 games) in his first year with Detroit. Fittingly, the Lakers’ next game comes against the Pistons, but not until Friday.
