Lakers’ Reported Interest in Jonathan Kuminga Includes Trade Offer to Warriors

With the trade deadline a little more than a week away, all signs point to the Warriors scouring the market and looking for upgrades. Their most tradable asset right now is arguably Jonathan Kuminga. The 23-year-old is currently out due to a bone bruise in his left knee. Curiously, Golden State did not provide a timeline for his return

Kuminga has been dangled in trade talks for at least a couple of years now. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr seems not to be keen on trusting the young forward. He often gives him sporadic minutes whenever he’s on the court. While the Sacramento Kings remain interested, the Los Angeles Lakers also show some interest. But what would LA’s package be? It’s not much, according to what has been divulged publicly.

“The Lakers and Warriors have conducted brief trade discussions involving Jonathan Kuminga. Los Angeles appears willing to offer the expiring contracts of Gabe Vincent and Maxi Kleber alongside a 2032 2nd-round pick. Golden State is not showing any legit interest in LA’s assets,” per a report from Evan Sidery.

The ever-inconsistent Gabe Vincent and backup big man Maxi Kleber? That’s selling low, Rob Pelinka. Well, that’s arguably the theme heading into next week’s deadline. Everybody can thank the Trae Young trade for setting the bar extremely low.

Jonathan Kuminga Accused Of Faking His Latest Injury

There’s no doubt that Jonathan Kuminga is a good player, especially when given proper minutes. But despite flashes of brilliance, it’s quite baffling that Steve Kerr has been so non-trusting of his young forward.

And Kerr’s actions have indirectly affected the young forward’s career. When Kuminga was injured against the Dallas Mavericks a few days ago, fans called him out for faking the severity of it. Was he acting out as a protest to Kerr and the rest of the GSW brass? Only he could answer that question.
