Lakers keeping an eye on Doc Rivers, Quin Snyder?
Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2021-22 NBA season with title aspirations. When it was all said and done, the team didn’t even make the playoffs.

Head coach Frank Vogel was the first domino to drop. He was swiftly fired as soon as L.A.’s year came to an end.

Now the question is: Who will ultimately replace him?

There appear to be two viable candidates at the moment.

“Sources maintain that the Lakers’ search is moving deliberately at least in part because L.A. wants to see if Philadelphia’s Doc Rivers or Utah’s Quin Snyder makes it to the open market this offseason,” reported NBA insider Marc Stein.

Now, it’s worth noting that Snyder has made his feelings on coaching the Lakers abundantly clear. Ditto for Rivers.

But apparently the front office hasn’t gotten the memo. Time will tell if their self-confidence will eventually be rewarded.
