Lakers star Anthony Davis leaves game with ankle injury
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers just can’t get right. That’s primarily due to the defending champion dealing with a plethora of injuries to stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

With James sidelined at least until next week due to an ankle sprain, Davis was the focus Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately, AD departed the game nine minutes in due to an ankle injury of his own.

It’s not yet known how severe said injury is. But it’s not a great sign. Davis was 2-of-9 shooting before going down with said injury. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers found themselves down 23 at halftime — their largest deficit through two quarters in a game over the past two seasons.

Right now, the Lakers find themselves battling to avoid a spot in the play-in tournament with a handful of regular-season games remaining.

They are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference, just a half game ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers for the seventh spot. Remember, seeds seven-through-10 are forced into the play-in tournament.

As for Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers star big man missed 30 games due to an Achilles’ injury earlier this season. He just can’t stay healthy.
