According to NBA insider Jovan Buha, the Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to trade for Miami Heat forward Andrew Wiggins

The Heat’s asking price for Wiggins appears to be too high for the Lakers.

Buha previously reported that Miami wants Dalton Knecht, Rui Hachimura and a first-round pick from Los Angeles for Wiggins.

Wiggins will make $28.2 million next season. He has a player option worth $30.2 million for the 2026-27 season.

Wiggins was the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected him but traded the talented small forward to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Kevin Love trade.

The 30-year-old Wiggins has played for the Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors and Heat. He has career averages of 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Wiggins put up 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game with the Warriors and Heat last season while shooting 44.8% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 76.3% from the free-throw line.

A Kansas product, Wiggins won the 2014-15 Rookie of the Year Award with the Timberwolves and the 2022 championship with the Warriors. He made his lone All-Star team in 2022 with Golden State.

The Lakers lost to the Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games despite having home-court advantage and LeBron James and Luka Doncic

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers swept the Heat in the first round.

The Heat acquired Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, parting ways with Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson. Miami also lost Duncan Robinson to the Detroit Pistons.

Meanwhile, the Lakers signed Deandre Ayton and Jake LaRavia and re-signed Jaxson Hayes

Los Angeles can sign Doncic to a contract extension starting on August 2. James, 40, picked up his player option for next season, but after what his agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group) said to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, some believe James could request a trade this offseason.
