Stephen Lew-Imagn Images

Bronny James has shown some improvements in his second season in the NBA, with his minutes and role with the Los Angeles Lakers increasing as well.

In 10 games played so far this 2025, James has averaged 2.1 points, 1.8 assists and 0.8 steal. His best game so far was against the Atlanta Hawks earlier this November, when he registered nine points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 18 minutes of action.

The 21-year-old has also started one game for the Purple and Gold, as Lakers coach JJ Redick continues to give him opportunities to improve his play.

With the Lakers getting fully healthy, however, the team recently made the decision to send James to the G League where he can continue to get more playing time.

That being said, many have been asking whether the eldest son of LeBron James will play against the Utah Jazz tonight.

Is Bronny James Playing Tonight?

James played for the Lakers during their showdown with the Jazz on Tuesday, recording three points and two assists in nearly four minutes of play. That's the same game in which his dad made his season debut for L.A. after nursing sciatica.

With James sent to the G League, however, he has been officially ruled out by the Lakers for their second straight game against the Jazz.

He and rookie Adou Thiero are listed as "Out" due to G League assignment, per the NBA injury report.

For what it's worth, James played for the South Bay Lakers in their 115-95 win against the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League on Friday. He tallied 15 points, four rebounds, eight assists, three steals and one block in 31 minutes of action.

The South Bay Lakers have another game against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Sunday morning, so it will be interesting to see if James will get to play and impress once again.
