The Lakers continued to shuffle the back end of their training camp roster, parting ways with Jarron Cumberland to bring in Tevian Jones, per Law Murray of The Athletic.
Cumberland had just signed an Exhibit 10 deal on Thursday after the team waived Arthur Kaluma to make room.
Now, the Lakers are turning that spot over to Jones, whose deal is also expected to be of the Exhibit 10 variety.
Jones, 25, is a 6-foot-7 guard who went undrafted in 2023 after five collegiate seasons — two at Illinois and three at Southern Utah.
He averaged 17.8 points and 4.4 rebounds as a senior and spent last year with the Grand Rapids Gold in the G League, where he posted 15.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists on .415/.346/.732 shooting splits.
Jones previously signed and was waived by the Pelicans in 2023. If he’s released before the season, he’s expected to join the South Bay Lakers, who acquired his returning rights earlier this month.
Like Cumberland and Kaluma, he’d be eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 if he sticks with the G League club for 60 days.
