The Charlotte Hornets closed their regular season with a 110-96 win over the New York Knicks, building momentum ahead of the play-in tournament.
LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel both contributed in the final game, scoring 19 and 14 points respectively, as the team secured a positive finish.
Beyond the result, the pair also capped off a remarkable season by achieving a milestone that places them alongside one of the NBA’s most iconic duos.
Ball and Knueppel became just the second duo in NBA history to each record 270 or more three-pointers in a single season, according to ESPN.
The only other pair to achieve that feat are Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who did so in the 2015-16 and 2022-23 seasons.
Knueppel finished first and Ball second in the league’s three-point rankings, further underlining their impact from beyond the arc.
Curry and Thompson previously led the NBA in three-pointers in the same season on four occasions.

20-year-old Knueppel has strengthened his case for the Rookie of the Year award, reaching such an impressive record.
However, he faces strong competition from Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg, the number one overall pick.
Flagg has delivered multiple high-scoring performances this season, making him the favourite for the award.
He also surpassed some rookie records set by LeBron James, despite playing for a struggling Dallas side.
