LaMelo Ball's Partner, Ana Montana, Arrested On Felony Charges

NBA star LaMelo Ball’s girlfriend Ana Montana got into some trouble with the law recently and she’s reportedly facing felony drug charges.

According to TMZ, booking records in Mecklenburg County show that Montana (real name Analicia Chaves) was arrested this past Monday. She is facing two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery and two misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. Montana was held on a $20,000 bond.

The arrest warrant states that authorities claim she obtained alprazolam (generic Xanax) from Walgreens using an allegedly stolen DEA registration and medical provider ID. The conduct she’s accused of dates all the way back to February.

Montana’s Lawyer Speaks

In response to the arrest, Montana’s lawyer spoke to TMZ and clarified the situation:

“To clarify, the charges allege that a doctor who used a fraudulent DEA registration and NPI number prescribed Alprazolam for Ms. Chaves, and that she used the prescription written by the doctor to obtain the prescribed Alprazolam at a pharmacy,” the lawyer stated.

“The drug possession charges appear to allege that she possessed the aforementioned Alprazolam upon obtaining it from the pharmacy via the prescription written by the doctor.

As for Ball, he was traded to the Timberwolves this past summer. He is set to make his debut for the team after spending the first six years of his NBA career with the Charlotte Hornets.

Ball and Montana have one son together, LaOne, who was born in January.
