Latest on Russell Westbrook

Yes, Russell Westbrook remains on the market after declining his 2025-26 player option with the Denver Nuggets. And he waits … and waits.

Several teams have been mentioned as potential fits, of course. The list includes the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks, as noted by Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report.

That said, sources told Hoops Wire they would not be surprised if Westbrook enters the season unsigned.

If he does get signed, it would likely be to a minimum contract and it may or may not be a deal with any of the teams mentioned above.

Westbrook played 75 games for Denver last season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists. He shot 44.9 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from 3-point range and 66.1 percent at the foul line.

The Nuggets reached the second round of the playoffs, falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.

Westbrook, who turns 37 in November, has played for six teams during his career, including long stints with the Thunder and more recent stops with Houston, Washington, the Lakers, Clippers and Nuggets.

He is the NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles with 203 and was named league MVP in 2017.

A nine-time All-Star, Westbrook has career averages of 21.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists across 1,237 games.
