LaVar Ball again absurdly claims he could beat Michael Jordan 1-on-1

LaVar Ball has made making completely outrageous and borderline asinine statements his own personal sports media cottage industry over the years. The outspoken elder Ball unsurprisingly has done it again, this time by going back to the well on a previously expressed — not to mention absurdly dubious — claim about his supposed 1-on-1 skills.

A few years ago, Ball bragged about his alleged athletic prowess on the basketball court by claiming he could beat Michael Jordan in a 1-on-1 showdown.

Well, with the MJ-centric documentary, “The Last Dance,” in the final stretch of its remarkable run as a runaway ratings smash for ESPN, Ball doubled down on that assertion this week during an appearance on Complex Sports’ “Load Management” show.

Unwilling to stop there, Barr went on to assert in absolutely preposterous fashion that he would even humble New Orleans Pelicans superstar — and Lonzo Ball teammate — Zion Williamson in a 1-on-1 matchup.

The case can be made that Ball saying ridiculous things is solely dependent on a media outlet providing him a forum to do so. In other words, put a microphone in front of Ball and it’s nearly certain that he will utter something that will elicit an eye-roll at a minimum.

Perhaps the silliest part of all when it comes to Ball’s antics? He doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him. After all, the elder Ball appears to ascribe to the old adage that there’s no such thing as bad publicity, even if it makes him end up looking foolish in the end, which often enough it does.

At least his name and wacky opinions keep getting put out there, Ball presumably believes.
